What is White Labeling?


 

 


 


White labeling is not a new concept, it was then developed in the retail sector primarily
for supermarkets wishing to offer own brand alternatives to their customers as a means of increasing their market share.

Over time the white labeling concept has been developed to include a very wide range of
products and services offered across a variety of industry sectors, perhaps most successfully
the provision of financial services with again the supermarkets leading the way.

White labeling allows for the expansion into new markets or the increase in market share in
existing markets by utilizing the knowledge, expertise, resources and infrastructure of a third
party company whilst maintaining the customers’ perception that the product or service is
being provided by the company they have always used.

The benefit to the third party company is the ability to increase the volume of their business
without the need for extensive spending on marketing as the other company has an existing customer base.

The benefit to the company using the white label concept are the reduced investment, staff
and infrastructure costs along with reduced risk associated with expanding and improving
