FEATURED OFFICE – INTERVIEW WITH ROB & LYDIA JUTTON OF BOATSHED NORTH WALES

Rob and Lydia both have the boating bug, we try and get out onto the water as often as we can. One of the great things about running a Boatshed office is that we can combine our work, pleasure and love of boats all at the same time.

We were so impressed with the Boatshed approach to Yacht Broking that we gave up our day jobs (in Rob’s case Corporate Finance and in Lydia’s case Local Government Finance) to set up Boatshed North Wales. It's the best thing we ever did. We spend our time meeting really nice people and chatting to them about all things boating.

How long has your business been going for? Two and a half years at Christmas.

What new things are happening in your business at present? Our new office is the major news at present.   We are more visible to the owners that have bigger boats. We feel we have more creditability in the area and it’s amazing what a difference a physical office has made.

Where do you see your business in two years time?  We are hoping to attract more agents who will manage their own area within our territory. Each agent will become a broker and develop the business within their own area. Our office would possibly be a central office, we'll work out how it will work as we go along.

What new trends are happening in your business?   This year we really noticed that the Euro exchange rate made a huge difference to the percentage of sales going to European buyers, approx 50% have gone to Europe. We are finding that the small power boats business has gone quieter and sailing boats are selling well.
